Why we added it

Small modules, big system, no drama.

Most batteries make you choose your capacity on day one. The Dura5 lets you buy what you need now and add a module when the car or the heat pump arrives, and every module carries its own ten year warranty.

Modular by design

Each Dura5 is a 5.12 kWh block, 490 by 688 millimetres and 51 kilograms. Wall mount one or two, or stack them on the floor. The system takes up to 32 modules, far beyond any house, so growing is never a rebuild.

Fast in both directions

A one hour charge and discharge rate, 100 amps continuous per module, so a stack can carry the oven, the shower and the car charger at once and refill in a short cheap rate window overnight.

Built for a British wall

IP65, rated from minus 10 to plus 55 degrees, natural convection with no fans, and made to be mounted outside next to the meter or inside a garage. Plug and play cabling with automatic balancing between modules.

Lithium iron phosphate

The chemistry with the best thermal stability in home storage, no cobalt, and the durability behind the 8,000 cycle rating. Cell level management in every module.

The Dura-i inverter

Duracell Energy’s own hybrid inverter in 3.6, 4.6, 5 and 6 kW sizes takes up to 10 kWp of solar, has a built in smart meter so there is one less box to fit, and gives a backup supply for essential circuits in a power cut.

The app

The Duracell Energy app shows solar, battery, home and grid live and runs Tariff Intelligence, a UK developed routine that reads the weather forecast and your tariff and charges from the grid when it is cheapest.

Duracell Energy

Duracell Energy is a UK company based at Toddington in Gloucestershire, operating the Duracell name for home energy under licence from the battery brand. The products are designed, tested and distributed from there, and the ten year warranty is supported by the company behind it, Puredrive Energy, a UK battery maker since 2016.

How the modules add up

Size it to your evenings, then grow it.

One or two modules

5 to 10 kWh nominal on the wall. Covers a typical evening for a two to three bedroom home with solar, and takes a cheap overnight window in winter.

Three or four modules

15 to 20 kWh in a floor stack. A family home with an electric car or a heat pump, running most of the day and night from stored energy.

More than that

Stacks of up to 16, and up to 32 in parallel, for larger houses, farms and small commercial roofs. We survey and price these site by site.

How we install it

Surveyed, sized, certified.

The same method as every battery job we do.

1. Free survey

Your bills, your evenings, the roof if there is solar or solar is coming, the consumer unit, and where the modules would sit. A straight answer on how many you need, which is usually fewer than the brochure suggests.

2. Design and quote

Module count, inverter size, whether backup earns its place, and the network operator application. An itemised quote with the MCS estimate. No prices on this page because every stack is different.

3. Install and hand over

Our own team, usually a day. MCS certificate for the battery, the electrical certificate, the G98 or G99 acknowledgement, the app on your phone and the warranty registered in your name.

Who it suits

Right for some houses, not all of them.

We install four battery ranges and we say which fits.

Duracell Energy questions, answered

Is this made by Duracell, the battery company?

No, and the datasheet says so. The Duracell name is used under licence by Duracell Energy, a UK company in Gloucestershire, and the product is designed, manufactured under licence and warranted by Puredrive Energy. We think that is a good thing: the people who answer the warranty line are the people who designed it.

Is it MCS certified?

The Dura5 and Dura-i are MCS certified products, and Energy Giants holds MCS certification for battery storage and solar PV, so every installation gets its own MCS certificates, which is what export payments and most funding require.

Can it go outside?

Yes. It is IP65 rated and specified for indoor or outdoor mounting, from minus 10 to plus 55 degrees. Most of ours go on an outside wall near the meter position or in a garage.

Does it work with my existing solar?

Usually. With the Dura-i hybrid inverter it takes the strings directly, replacing an older inverter, or it can be added on the AC side alongside your existing inverter. We check at the survey which is better.

Will it keep the lights on in a power cut?

The Dura-i inverter has a backup supply for essential circuits, so selected circuits can be kept running when the grid fails. Whole house backup depends on the loads and needs its own design; we quote it as an option.

How many modules do I need?

Most homes with solar start with one or two; a home with a car or a heat pump usually wants three or four. The survey sizes it against your actual evening use, and you can add modules later without changing anything else.

What does it cost?

It depends on the number of modules, the inverter and whether backup is included, so we do not publish a price. Our cost guide gives indicative ranges for whole systems, and the survey gives you an itemised figure.

What is the warranty?

Ten years on each module, supported by Puredrive Energy in the UK, with 8,000 cycles rated. Our workmanship is insurance backed through Bluedrop.
