Songs about power: 13 tracks and a playlist a month

Thirteen songs whose titles or band names play on electricity, in one player you can leave running. Plus a themed playlist every month, starting with Halloween.

Sound bars in Energy Giants green and gold with a lightning bolt at the centre

We made a playlist. Thirteen songs whose titles, or band names, play on electricity, all in one player on our Songs about power page. Press play, leave it running, and it works through the lot.

There is nothing you have to fill in and nothing about your bill. We spend our days talking about volts, panels and kilowatt hours, and we fancied a list where the electricity is in the song titles instead.

How the page works

The thirteen

It opens loud, wanders through Brixton, Detroit, Düsseldorf and the Wirral, and finishes on one any pub would pick.

In listening order, not date order.

A playlist a month

This is the first of a series. From now on we will publish one themed playlist here on the blog every month, with a short note on why each song made the cut.

Halloween

Our Halloween playlist lands later this month, in time for the 31st. Expect the lights to go out at some point. Got a song that has to be on it? Email hello@energygiants.co.uk or message us on Facebook.

What have we missed?

The rule for Songs about power is simple: the title, or the band name, has to play on power, electricity, energy, voltage, current or charge. Mainstream, please. If a 45 year old in Clitheroe would not know it, it is probably not one for this list.

And the other kind of power

If you came for the music, that is the lot. If you came for the other kind of power, we do have a day job. Start with our full guide to solar panels in Lancashire or the piece on sizing a home battery properly.
